MEET GEORGE

BIOGRAPHY

George grew up in Millbrae as a proud child of first generation immigrants.

Living on the Peninsula, George has core memories visiting Palo Alto as a kid for Chinese language classes, and later on walking around University Ave with high-school friends.

George later attended Stanford, where he studied economics, managed the college radio station (KZSU), and lived in a consensus-run co-op.

George’s first job out of school was at a personal finance startup near Cal Ave. George has also worked at Bird, a scooter-sharing company. His work covered equity and accessibility programs, and he immersed himself in transportation policy and climate equity.

George now works at Meta as a product manager for content moderation. His day-to-day work focuses on systems to prevent harm and violence on Live video on Instagram and Facebook. Previously, he led work on election and Covid misinformation during 2020 and 2022 elections.

He currently serves as a Planning and Transportation Commissioner. He’s engaged deeply on the most consequential issues facing Palo Alto from our Housing Element to potential bikeways on El Camino.

He volunteers regularly at regional events from tree plantings to beach cleanups. During the pandemic, he volunteered with the US Digital Response, where he worked closely with local cities and counties to deliver millions of meals to seniors in need from local restaurants. Previously, he initiated and taught a Computer Science course to lower-resource students at the Boys and Girls Club in Venice California.
